STARS:
Essentially a Carrera 3.2 with chopped, more steeply racked windscreen and hood, and stripped-out interior. Most had wide Turbo bodies, but some were narrow and one or two had slant-noses. Not everyone wanted four-wheel-drive so the rear-drive Carrera 2 offered a more traditional 911 experience and was 100kg lighter, but looked identical to Carrera 4. Tiptronic automatic transmission was a new option. COMPRESSION RATIO: 10.3:1

911 Carrera (G and H series)
Has won 39.6% of 4141 battles

YEAR: 1974-1975
STARS:
From 1974 Porsche used the Carrera name on its range-topping 911. The 911 Carrera used essentially the same 2.7-litre, 210bhp engine as the previous year’s RS for all markets except the USA, where it used the 175bhp 911S powerplant. In 1975 it was available with an optional new ‘whaletail spoiler. COMPRESSION RATIO: 8.5:1

STARS:
The 911S was updated for the 1972 model year, the same capacity 2341cc engine as the 911E but tuned to produce 190bhp. The 911S was the first production 911 to have a front spoiler; this small lip reduced front-end lift by a claimed 40 percent. COMPRESSION RATIO: 8.5:1
