In 1967, the 911 received its first, albeit minor, update when the A series came along. At the same time, the range expanded. The standard car become known as the 911L (for Lux or Luxury) and sat alongside the high-performance 911S and the entry-level 911T.

Year: 1984-1989

A revised engine gave more power and torque in 1984, while in 1987 Motronic engine management improved efficiency and emissions, when the car returned to the US market. Perforated brake discs appeared in 1988, while a five-speed gearbox arrived in 1989.
