911 Carrera 2.7 RS

After a number of incidents where people filled E series 911s, petrol via the external oil-filler, the filler returned to under the engine compartment lid. The 911E was fitted with a new type of ATS cast-aluminium wheels, now nicknamed ‘cookie cutters’ and had the front spoiler of the 911S.

Year: 1972-1973

Developed as a homologation special based on the 911S, the RS had a 2681cc engine that developed 210bhp. The body was lightened and fitted with flared rear arches and an optional ducktail spoiler, and the suspension uprated. The RS Sport was ultra-light, while the Touring retained some creature comforts. 1580 2.7 RS cars were built.
