Fitted, a single KKK turbocharger, the 911 Turbo with its 2994cc engine was the world’s first production car to be turbocharged. Flared arches and a whaletail spoiler created a look that was to become legendary. Brakes were not good on these first Turbos. Four-speed gearbox standard.

The Carrera 3.2 had essentially the same galvanised body as the outgoing SC. The engine was claimed by Porsche to be 80 percent new and was the first production 911 motor to feature an ECU to control the ignition and fuel systems. Getrag G50 gearbox appeared in 1987.
