In line with the 911E and 911S, the entry-level 911T received a boost in engine size to 2341cc. However a lower compression ratio and Zenith 40 TIN triple-choke carburettors gave a lower power output of 130bhp. For the US market, the T had Bosch fuel injection, which gave it the unusual distinction of being more power than the rest-of-world version. 140bhp.

US-bound F series 911Ts were the first 911s to be fitted with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. Also called CIS injection, this was fundamentally mechanical but, some electronic sensors and overrides. It gave precise injections of fuel as required, thus keeping emissions down and improving economy.
